Sarah Baker, MS, FNP-BC, RN is a crucial member of the COSA Breast team, and Dr. Slam’s Breast Nurse Practitioner. She works directly with Dr. Slam for patient care and is an incredible asset to the team. Sarah started her career in medicine in 2003, and earned her Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) from Mount Carmel College of Nursing in 2008. She has worked in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at Mount Carmel East Hospital since this 2008, and is one of the senior-most ICU nurses. She continued her nursing studies at Mount Carmel College of Nursing, and earned her Master of Science in Family Practice Nursing (MS-FPN) in 2014, all while maintaining full SICU employment. Sarah was recruited by Dr. Slam to join the COSA Breast team in 2014, due to her extensive experience in the care of the surgical patient, her wonderful bedside manner, and her dependability. She assists Dr. Slam in clinical follow-up and long-term management of benign breast conditions, previously abnormal breast imaging, and breast cancer survivorship. Sarah is also typically available for last minute and more urgent patient care issues. She will always work under the direct care of Dr. Slam, who oversees all imaging and follow up plans.
