The National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Guidelines establish the best-practice guidelines for cancer patients. During the first five years after any diagnosis of breast cancer, a breast practitioner should clinically evaluate women every six to twelve months. After five years, many women continue to follow at least yearly with their breast practitioner, as new issues can arise at any point after a diagnosis. The strength of the COSA Comprehensive Breast Center is the continuity of care that is provided to women. COSA surgeons have been caring for women in Columbus since 1974, and there has been essentially no physician turnover. Private practice physicians are now somewhat uncommon in the new era of medicine, and Dr. Slam and all of the COSA physicians believe that non-employed practice is optimal for patient care.
